This Course
This is a level 2 vocational qualification which provides individuals with an introduction to the knowledge, understanding and practical skills required to work on heavy electric and hybrid vehicles including buses and coaches.
The course has been designed for those people who may encounter heavy electric/hybrid vehicles within an operational environment including Vehicle Maintenance and Repair Technicians and Vehicle Damage Repair Technicians. It also contains the knowledge and skills required to work safely around a vehicle that may have damage to its high energy/electrical system.
This course contains one mandatory unit covering knowledge of:
- Heavy electric/hybrid vehicle system components and operation,
- Hazards surrounding heavy electric/hybrid vehicles,
- How to reduce the risks to yourself and others when working on heavy electric/hybrid vehicles,
- Making a heavy electric/hybrid vehicle high energy system safe to work on,
- Reinstating a heavy electric/hybrid vehicle high energy system.
Candidates are required to sit an online examination and carry our a practical skills assessment at the end of the course.

Entry Requirements
- Trainee must have been working within the automotive industry for at least 12-18 months
- Fluent in English. Written and Spoken. (Other language training can be provided but should be requested during initial consultation. Additional costs may apply.)

- On customers site
- Please Note, it will be the customers responsibility to ensure that a suitable HGV is available at their premises for the duration of the training course. This will ensure that the training is relevant to Heavy Duty Vehicles.

Further Study
This IMI Level 2 qualification provides essential knowledge and skills to enable candidates to progress to IMI Level 3 Award In Heavy Electric / Hybrid System Repair and Replacement. This qualification further develops knowledge and skills within a technical role, carrying out repairs and replacements of high voltage components on heavy electric/hybrid vehicles.

- A hotel and subsistence cost may be charged at £180.00/night / $245/night depending on location.
