Course Overview
About this Course
This TÜV Rheinland course has been written in accordance with the latest German / DGUV guidelines. This is for Senior Authorised Technicians who will be completing live work on the vehicle – which includes stripping and rebuilding HV battery packs or removing and refitting components where High Voltage is present (for example HV battery contactors).
The content of this course enables the candidate to learn about:
- Types of HV energy storage (e.g. Li-Ion, Supercaps etc.)
- Construction of HV energy storage (e.g. cell structure, energy carrier, cooling, etc.)
- Electrical energy hazards
- Specific non-electrical hazards, e.g. chemical hazards, fire and explosion hazards, fall hazards
- Working on live HV components
- Practical use of diagnostic and measuring devices, use of various measuring methods (e.g. voltage measurement, troubleshooting on live HV components)
- Cell replacement/component replacement in the HV energy storage device
The core benefits of this course include:
- Developed inline with the latest German / DGUV guidelines
- Internationally recognised qualification
- Qualified to work on live HV systems and troubleshoot live HV components
- Working on live energy storage devices with a corresponding risk potential, e.g. for high voltage testing according to manufacturer specifications
- Any work in which employees use body parts or objects (tools, equipment or devices) or being able to touch parts is then considered work on live parts HV systems if the voltage-free state is not ensured and an electrical hazard cannot be ruled out.
Candidates are required to complete a written test and a practical skills assessment as part of the course.
For Level 4 training, the candidate must:
- Have at least a Level 3 Qualification for more than 6 months
- Be working in the automotive field and have High Voltage experience since achieving Level 3
- Have successfully complete first aid training including cardiopulmonary resuscitation
- Not have health restrictions that could lead to hazards when working on live HV components
